    Darjeeling Trip
Left Calcutta where we were staying on the 22nd on a domestic flight to Bagdogra from there got a jeep up to Darjeeling £12.00 approx took 3 hours! wonderful views...(next time when, I have 7 or so hours Ill take the train up from Siliguri) the jeep seemed a bit of a long time as its a twist and turn ride...and the train...thats one very slow ride!!. We spent the next day in and around the train, took the 'Joy ride' to Ghum...or Ghoom pending on which sign you are looking at!! stopping at Batasia loop and Ghum itself for a good wander round and pictures...the trip takes 2 hours approx and is about £2.00 each return...those heritage prices are crippling!!!;-).After that a long walk up the mall market for craft stuff...Das studio for old pics...the Chowrasta for 'Pekoe tip' second
flush darj tea £5.00 a big bag (try buying it in Fortnums for that price!!)...a leisurley stroll around the mall for the views then up to the Windamere for tea! and later a sit in the cosy bar. 4.00am next day 24th dec trip to tiger hill to see the sunrise and the
Himalayas lit up...wonderful...jeep down to Bagdogra for 2.00pm flight back to Calcutta back to the Taj Bengal Hotel for christmas eve do and Christmas day Champagne buffet by the pool weather being around 27c so had to have a swim..

My 7/8"s scale line running on 45mm track, most of the track is hand laid code 215 brass flat bottomed rail spiked on creocote (subst) and sump oil soaked sleepers all nailed to a sub frame under the ballast. It is only an oval with a passing loop and spur road in the front going down to Wrekin Havock and a road at the back to the wood yard. The line is mostly used by the preservation society and Hawkstone Quarries
